The top line of this blog are the theory and techniques guides for COMM 273. Along the left column you can see links to student work. Students post their public work here for COMM 273, Media and Popular Culture class at TLU.
What is really interesting to me here is the usage of lines. It is hard to read the handwriting, but that aside the lines shine through. Could all the small tiny lines, combined with the rest of the picture be manipulating the mood of the comic into something else? Maybe if the lines weren't there would the mood be changed?
I also agree that the lines used in this page have a lot to do with the mood. It makes the scenes very dark and emotional. The faces of the characters are emphasized by the lines to show how tired they are along with the stress and emotion for their troubled friend Jesus. What stood out most to me was the drawing of Laura in the last scene. She is drawn almost with uncertainty, the jagged lines make her out to seem crazy.
Although it is hard to make out the work, the images here are very mood specific. Some of the lines are unwelcoming, jagged, and broken. Especially in the last scene where Laura is mostly drawn with jagged, broken lines. The features in these characters are emphasized with lines to bring out the emotions they are feeling and this, captivates the audience and makes them connect better with the script. Also, I'm not sure what you put for the words but I think the words are needed to establish what is going on in the scenes.
