1984-Ren moves from Chicago. At this time, Chicago was seeing a rapid increase in street violence and teen homicide.

2011- Ren is from Boston. At this time, Boston was going through something very similar to what Chicago was going through in 1984. The crime rate in Boston is significantly greater compared to the rest of the US.
