1
“vague sense” given from the initial abstraction forced.
Cross-hatching highly apparent. Portray emotional appeal heavily.

Seriousness brought back in following vivid picture from previous page possibly.
2
“interdependent” words create the images structure.
Blue color becomes more visible in Mr. S
3.5
Emotional appeal initiates in sequence.
3
“real time”- presenting leveled functioning of subjects.
“weak/unstable” lining. Color imbalance between subjects
2.5
Dynamic presented within the two, level of balance at once.
4
Pause panel- stretched of time from Mr. S response
“warm/gentle” lining
2.5
Area of trying to hold together.
5
Continuous stretch from Mr. S carrying on emotion
“weak/unstable” lining, blue color as heavy as can be.
5 (most abstract)
Too much emotion brought in one, loss of control essentially from character reaction

“subject to subject” switch over. With the clicking of the tape.
Cross hatching comes back. “rational/conservative” lining.

  1. I agree with the 3.5 on the abstraction scale for panel 2, although I do see a couple of issues. We were supposed to do the five McCloud elements. (Abstraction, transition, speed/time, line, and words/images) You are lacking transitions and words/images, I also do not understand where tone came from. You should also have included another form of annotations for the same page, for examples you can see the other blog post. Over all the annotations are done well, you are just missing some key points in the assignment.

  2. I agree with the top comment as well. You've broken down the panels and analyzed them fairly well, but you didn't follow the five McCloud elements so it's slightly difficult to comment towards. I do have to say that with most of these panels its word and picture, which influences time and pace of each panel. Reading it you almost feel like him. A person drinking his sorrows away going on and on about the lost of his love. Especially with the breakage of his line "Then you will know...just how...it feels to to...to lose the love, the one...". The way it's written you feel weighed down, lost, and in mourning just like the character. It helps you connect and feel what he feels.
