The original Dumbo movie was released in 1941, two years after WW2 began. The second Dumbo was released in 2019. After watching both films and reading these articles, I want my project to go over the racism in the original film, for example with the crows being played by white men speaking “jive”, and the main crow literally being named ‘Jim Crow’. Also I want to find connections between the original movie and the war going on at the time, so far I have noticed similarities in flight patterns looking like military planes, etc. but I need to try to do a more in depth analysis.
