Highlights key events that happened before the release of the movie for example, Saddam Hussein being sentenced to death in 2006. “Surge” of 20,000 deployed troops in Iraq (2007). Obvious enemy and threat at the time for Americans.

Top 50 action/crime movies according to IMDb. Batman related content makes up 10% of that list, The Dark Knight being one of those. I believe this says something about Batman and its significance to the genre.
