Film/Tv Blog data Post

The Shot

Focal/Depth

Big Close up

When they lay dead

Emphasize that they are dead and their wounds, but we start to see their wounds heal which is very important and tells the audience that they are imortal.

Medium long shot

You don’t see it in the pictures, but there is a lot of this in the action scenes

 Close up

When lying on the ground as well as when they are talking to each other after killing bad guys.

Medium shot

We get this in the action scenes.

To catch our focus on the hand-to-hand combat.

Medium close up

When Andy is staring into the camera as well as action scenes.

Movement

Tilt

As the team goes downstairs the camera looks up and goes down as they get to the cave.

Sebastian rolls on the floor to duck and then shoots guy

Nicky kills guy with sword, leading to next scene of Andy

Crab/truck

As Andy kills soldiers with her sword.

 Handheld

Basically, the entire action scene.

Pov

I think we have Pov of what Andy is looking at while searching the cave.

The camera Andy is staring into

Foreground, Mid and Background

As they stand around talking to each other after killing everyone.

Mix

Diagonals

Balanced/Centered Medium scale Standing in Cave

Small scale

Lighting

Low contrast/high key

I think that’s what they are trying to do with the spotlights.

High contrast/lowkey

Back lit

When entering the cave

When their back is against the lights you cannot see them (Cave).

Side lit

Andy lying dead as the flashlight shines in her face.

Over head

Front lit

They are front lit as the spotlights surprise them.

Addities

Diagetic lights

Spotlights inside the cave.

Photography

Aspect rations

16x9

lens

Telephoto/zoom

Image Quality

Film

Low grain/ smoot

Quality

I think 8mm

Exposure

“Correct Exposure”

I would say after the spotlights turn on.

Under exposure

Somewhat as they enter the cave

Editing

Styles

Outside to inside

Attacking compound to getting inside the cave

Montage

Action scene of everyone killing the enemy

Cut Types

Invisible

Match on Action

I think literally everything

Graphic Match

We see Andy’s back, then it cuts to her killing someone from the front

Eyeline match

Andy’s looks up to see camera and we get a closer look at the camera

Visible

Jump cut

I think the scene where they are standing around breathing heavy after killing bad guys.

Sound (Pretty much everything is timed while, nothing different)

Diegetic

Pretty much everything in film

Non-diagetic

The music played during action scenes and, I think the sword combat is a little exaggerated I don’t know if swords sound that sharp in battle.

Elaborated Notes

During the action scenes we get many medium shots and medium close ups to focus on the hand-to-hand combat since they are fighting close quarters. When the team gets killed in the cave, we get a big close up shot, which is a very important because it shows us that their wounds are healing as the team lays dead on the floor.

The angle of the camera is high and as Andy (the leader of the team) looks up at the camera it gives us a feeling that she’s coming after the back guys or that she has power.

The movement of the camera is mostly horizontal as the team moves forward to kill the bad guys and some keep moving forward after killing one guy. Mostly though the camera is handheld as we feel that we were in the mix of the action. We do get two POV movements when Andy enters the cave and looks around to find nothing and when she investigates the camera, we become the Pov of the camera looking at Andy.

The lighting is dark and feels foggy, but we can still see the differences in colors. The team is backlit entering the cave as the light from outside shines behind them and they become front lit for most of the action scene.

I think the lens during the film, specifically during the action scenes is the Telephoto lens. We get detail and focus while the characters are fighting.

The exposure of the film I think is “correct exposure” but only when the spotlights are turned on because at that point, we can see the difference in colors. When they enter the cave, I think it is “Somewhat under exposure” because there is no light, but the only light or exposure is from the light coming from behind them and their flashlights.

The editing starts outside to inside to find the girls, which was their main objective, and we get a montage during the action scenes as we see each character get their fair share of the action. Mostly there is match on action cuts displaying the fast-paced battle scene. I do think as we see each character fight to me it does jump because we’ll see one character fight then it’ll show another character fighting.

The sound is simple and matches the action on screen but the music during the action scenes and lowkey the sword sounds (they’re a little exaggerated in my opinion) are non-diegetic.
