Adaptation Data

2013 Carrie
Syntagmatic:
Clothed: innocent, nice, naïve.
Unclothed: mean, spiteful, dirty.
Fetal Position: scared, defenseless.
Standing: prowling, stalking.
All the women are white and fit.
All the girls either have long hair or bangs with a pony tail.
As seen in other movies like mean girls, easy A and Emma, the antagonist of the plot are pretty, fit, white girls.

Paradigmatic:
If the character under attack is substituted with a non-white character the pictures meaning changes dramatically. It goes from being about high school bullying and pushing a young girl over the edge to a plot revolved around racism, and acts of hatred. Racism which is a great taboo among society today.
