Human Diastrophism Analysis

  1. It seems like there might be a reoccurring pattern in terms of contrasting large dark spaces with large white spaces, perhaps to emphasize some theme within the story. For example, the monkeys in frame 3 are completely in the dark, perhaps representing their role as an antagonist of sorts throughout the story.

  2. I would say that the transition from panel 2 to 3 is Subject to Subject because it switches the focus from Guadalupe to the monkeys. Other than that the rest of the analysis seems good. Am I the only one who thinks it is strange that Riri is washing a pig? Why wash something that is known to roll around in the mud? Her attempt to keep the animal clean is pointless. Could this reflect her relationship with Maricela? Their attempt to keep the relationship a secret is bound to be figured out in such a small town, so why try to keep it hidden from everyone?

  3. I agree that other than the transition from panel 2 to 3 is subject to subject, everything else is good. I had not though about Riri's attempt to keep the pig clan as a direct connection with her attempt to hide her relationship with Maricela, good point. I did find it pointless to try and keep and animal clean that is just going to continue to get dirty, and I can definitely see the connection Augie is making. I would have to add that in some of the panels without the words, one may not know what is going on in the story The words are needed except for panels 1 through 4, that seems to be self explained with just pictures. Overall, Good job.
