The top line of this blog are the theory and techniques guides for COMM 273. Along the left column you can see links to student work. Students post their public work here for COMM 273, Media and Popular Culture class at TLU.
Your interpretation of the use of lines and words/images was on point.
Some ideas for a thesis statement / argument could be: 1. As relationships advance, the need for women to fit into specific gender roles becomes more important for men in Latin American cultures. At the beginning of Act of Contrition Part 2, the lines used for Archie are a tad bit sharper and his abstraction is a bit less cartoonish than it is towards the end of the act (lines are sharp when Archie just wants to party with Luba --> lines get harsher when Archie gets angry with Luba's behavior --> lines become soft when Archie feels guilt). It's interesting how Archie's behavior / attitude (displayed through his words and how he is drawn) goes from almost careless about who else is interested or wants to dance with Luba to being angry that she gives other men attention (further into their relationship) to being distraught that they got into a fight. 2. Fighting and bouts of aggression are linked (or are the cause) of nightmares. The nightmare could easily be argued to be the result of a fight since 1. the focus of the nightmare, the corpse (harsh lines to bring it to the center of attention) was Luba, 2. Archie's nightmare seems to occur the night of the fight (the flashback seems to be in the more recent past and 3. text on the next page states that Archie had never had such a vivid dream before.
Your analysis on the page is really detailed and everything seems to be spot on. I would use your analysis on lines and the corpse to emphasize the fact that the authors wanted to depict a calm and serene death
I agree with your analysis. I believe Luba and Archie were on the same page when the first started to dance and hangout. As they went out more and more, Archie starting to gain real feelings for Luba, while Luba was still the same and was enjoying herself. The evidence is in Archie's attitude as he begins to get angry when Luba danced with other men instead of being laid back and did not care who Luba danced with. His feelings for Luba kept increasing as he has a dream about Luba the night after he got angry with her. Archie's intentions are much more different after multiple times dancing. Luba has no real feelings for Archie and is just there to have a good time.

Your analysis is very accurate and well done. The only thing that I would encourage you to look deeper into would be what exactly the lines mean. Although the lines defining the dead body are important, I think that maybe the lines could be trying to outline the intensity in the scenes as well.
