Neill Ali p 16

Ali fell under the transmission paradigm, specifically the cognizant receiver. His point was that children would not be able to quickly comprehend any deeper message in the movie. The cognizant receiver thinks the ideological message will not affect people because the message is too deeply hidden. Rockler's interpretation of his response is spot on. Ali stated "there's no doubt about it...kids won't pick up on it". The only way I could see a misinterpretation is by Ali's quanitfier of how quickly kids would get the message. If it were my interview I would agree with Rockler, but because Ali says the kids "won't pick up on it so fast" he is implying that if the kids watched it enough times they would get that underlying message. He is not disagreeing that the movie is racist or sexist or classist, just that people will not recognize it.
