I agree with Derek when saying the lions represent the white population and that the hyenas were African American. when the movie was made whites were still like the dominate race and controlled almost everything, so they make it where the lions(whites) could only be the kings and everyone had to obey them. also scar had group of hyenas(African Americas) following him around and doing what he says because he was in control and scared of him. hyenas being the lowest race. I also agree with scar being Jewish. In that time the Jewish were moved to the ghetto and scar lived on the rough side of town. he had to live in the elephant grave while mufasa lived where the pride rock was which is nice.
