In the Rockler article "through the interviews students argued that it was ridiculous to assume that the producers intended the film to contain messages about gender, class, race, or poor people (Rockler, 2001)". Cheng argued that the creators of The Lion King did not intend to portray these messages in the film and it was solely made to profit Disney financially.
I agree with Cheng when he states that The Lion King was not made with a malicious intent of trying to establish a race and class system. Not only does The Lion King show family oriented way which we can relate to, it also displays the primal animal aspect of a male lion and his pack. This is clearly shown when Mufasa is teaching Simba how to grow up to become the leader of the pack, and Scar trying to take over as king by eliminating Mufasa and his descendants. As a child watching The Lion King, the message I obtained is that one should always be loyal to their family and never try to vindictively take something that is not yours because the end result cannot end well.
