In the Rockler Article people in group two, which were White Men, fall under the transmission paradigm way of thinking and interpreting the Lion King. There are clearly many different ways that one can interpret the beloved Disney movie, however, I feel as though the men in group two interpreted it fairly accurately. All of the men agreed that the hyenas were representative and symbolic of a certain class and culture of people, and they also agreed upon calling the group of hyenas the 'undesirables'. After watching the Lion King now that I am older, and can better understand the stereotypes involved, I find myself agreeing more and more with the group of white men. Not only do the hyenas symbolize a certain culture, they encompass all of the so called 'undesired' races, and they even go on to say that the 'crazy one may represent the handicapped members of society.'
Rocklers article was great to read, it brought many new ideas to my attention, ones that I will continue to look for in other films, and pieces of work.
