The lines of the protagonist are soft with a dynamic slant.
The background is made up of ordered boxy lines with cracks showing instability.

As the page progresses the action seems to speed up as the tension does. The line work also establishes contrast between the characters. Good and bad characters are outlined visually through the lines they are drawn with. The morally gray protagonist's lines are halfway between the two extremes (the whimsical lines of Kippa and the harsh and unstable lines of the mad prisoner).
As the page progresses the mad prisoner breaks through the ordered 4th wall of bars, establishing the threat and increasing the tension of the scene.

The repetition in panels 3-6 and the layout of the panels mirror the structure and shape of the bars adding to a feeling of entrapment. As the scene grows more brutal the level of abstraction and the linework remain the same, giving a sense of hyper-
realism, returning to softer lines after the gruesome scene has ended.

I like the way you work in .5 on abstraction and define the lines. I feel like the colors compliment the lines in creating a menacing environment but having soft, innocent characters. Could the way the blood is presented in the death of the inmate be preparation for the mood and amount of violence throughout the rest of the comic?
