The Addams Family Thesis & my dilemma

Thesis: The development of entertainment broadcasting technology is the catalyst for spreading societal roles and influencing public opinion. In the mist of stereotypes spreading like viruses during nightly radio or sitcom broadcastings, The Addams Family brought attention to the expectations of social and domestic stereotypes by embracing a satirical, inverted version of , 'The American Family'.

I have a major dilemma: I am finding the impact that television and sitcoms have on portraying the picture perfect 'American Family' but my research has not been on The Addams Family television sitcom (which was between the 1938 comic and the 1991 film I am discussion) so I almost feel guilty talking about it in my thesis... any opinions??

Is it okay to just mention The Addams Family sitcom as a piece of adaptation but focus how entertainment broadcasting technology influenced the plot of The Addams Family across the adaptations?

  1. I would say it's fine as a reference, but you have to be careful to make sure the actual focuses of the speech (the comic and the movie) BOTH outweigh any mention of the sitcom, in terms of content/time spent on each.
