Moment to Moment: They are still
talking to one another from this panel to the next, meaning that there isn’t
any passage of time.
|
Slow: This is a conversation that
is taking a lot of time, due to how emotionally charged it is.
|
Warm and Gentle: The lines in the
panel are curvy and smooth. The lines on their faces are the smoothest in the
panel
|
Interdependent: The words truly do
need to be there in the first place, or else we would only know that they are
talking, not what they’re talking about. The words and picture together add
an impact to the page.

Moment to Moment: Again, this is a
conversation that is taking place, so the page zooms in just a little bit in
opposition to the first transition when it zoomed out.
|
Slow: Their conversation is still
going fairly slowly, even as presented by the areas between the panels being
small.
|
Warm and Gentle: The lines in this
page are a lot smoother, with the circular blobs of yellow. There is still
the jaggedness of their hair, but that’s the only change in line on the page.
|
Interdependent: The same reason as
they are in the first panel. They need to be there in order for us to know
what is going on in the conversation.

Aspect to Aspect: The transition
between panel 3 and 4 is a bit more noticeable, as the angle of the image
shifts. They are both still in the image, but this is far more focused on
Grace, as if trying to show her disdain for the conversation taking place.
|
Slow: The conversation is still
happening, going from one moment to the next.
|
Unwelcoming and Severe: The lines
in this page are interesting, since the lines of the different colors in the
background are receding, as if showing how much Grace is trying to distance
herself from Mia. Their faces are still smooth, however.
|
Interdependent: Same reasons as
previously discussed.

|
3.7: You can see a bit more of the
detail on Grace’s face, but not by much.
|
Aspect to Aspect: Both this
transition and the last one could possibly be Subject to subject. I say
Aspect to Aspect only because the real subjects of the page don’t change,
only their positioning on the page.
|
Slow: The conversation is
beginning to take a bit of a turn as Grace tries to push Mia away.
|
Unwelcoming and Severe: The lines
around Grace are a bit jagged. I feel that it suggests that Grace is trying
to push them away, kinda how she’s trying to push Mia away. Meanwhile, the
lines of their faces are still smooth.
|
Interdependent: It is a continuation
of the last panel in terms of dialogue, and it shows a bit of Grace’s disdain
as she scrunches her face saying this.

|
Slow: The conversation is still
going strong!
|
Unwelcoming and Severe: The lines
in this page are jagged, as if Mia is trying to drag the colors back up as
Grace pushes them away. The lines of their faces and clothes are still the
smoothest parts of the panel.
|
Interdependent: Another
continuation of the past conversation, that needs context. We might
understand what is being said without the words, however, since Grace looks a
bit surprised as opposed to her nonchalant look in the last panel.
|
I like how you talked about the lines and colors being a cue to Grace pulling away from Mia even though there are no words to suggest that. You could make a thesis statement about how in life we often just listen to what people have to say instead to listen and reading all of their body language so we miss out on a lot of what they're communicating. If we are able to take in and observe more of our interactions with people we could probably get a better read of them and ultimately avoid confusing situations.
ReplyDeleteIt’s a little bit difficult to read some of your points made in the picture, aside from that I like how you point out how the length of a transition or scene impacts the readers perspective of how time should be perceived as the author intendeds it
ReplyDeleteCant read some of the writing. But the table is really good and detailed. The argument I would go with is on the interdependence and the word/image selection.
