Thesis: The original movie was a comedy that mocked the outrageous television programs that were being aired in Japan at the time that had no deeper meaning. These shoes were attention grabbers for advertisements and they were not well thought out they just made people tune in. This ironically foreshadowed the exact type of movies that would come in the post 2000's Hollywood film era, including this remake. The new movie has the company Apex as the main cause of the problem given that they attracted Godzilla and resurrected Ghidorah. This shows again how corporations cause problems.
Differences
1962- In the 1962 version the main character is a man and his brother and the only important woman in the show is the girlfriend/sister of the 2
2021- The main character is a young girl and she is competent unlike the women in the first movies.
1962- Kong has no connection with any of the humans in the movie and is only fighting godzilla because he doesnt like him
2021- Kong is friends with the little girl in the movie and because he cares about the girl he also cares what happens to humanity.
1962-Godzilla was more focused on going towards Japan
2021- Godzilla is coming directly to kill kong and the Apex creation. He is more aggressive because the movie is more serious.
1962- The company in the film wants to use godzilla because they need a monster to boost their product. All though they are annoying they don't really cause any major problems just like the how the tv programs were just stupid and nothing else
2021- The company created a machine that drew godzilla to the surface so they are responsible for most of the damage that was done in the movie. This also shows how companies are now doing more than influencing stupid shows. They are causing major problems like climate change and lobbying for harmful laws.
