Josh, I think it is interesting you decided to focus on the sound aspect as I find it complicated. However, I think what you have so far for the sound is spot on. I think a good way to develop a better thesis would be to implement analysis of some of the film shots in the clip that you have selected.
ReplyDeleteJosh, I also found it unique that specifically the sound aspect was focused on here. Could you argue that the differing sound devices here make the scene more powerful? In my opinion the scene would be much less dramatic without the music for example. Perhaps you could focus on some aspects from “the shot” chart as well.
ReplyDeleteJosh, I am going to suggest a slightly different route than just sound. While the sounds adds to the scene I don't imagine a solid thesis originating from it. Instead, I would use your comments towards dialogue to form your thesis. The dialogue in the scene can be compared to the sound and thus a thesis such as: the sounds of basketball represent the love and bond shared between the characters; however, the connection between basketball, the sounds, and the tone of intimacy represent how material love is and could be an explanation for why love often fails. I.e. because most love is based on materialistic ideals that change as people grow.
ReplyDeleteJosh, I enjoy how you focus on sound but would suggest to branch out to more with sound, a clear thesis can stem into many editing effects with also many film angles. But added onto sound, both angles plus sound can put it into a very powerful thesis working together as one
ReplyDeletewhy everybody bashing me like that though🧑🦲
