The Woman King: lighting

During this specific scene it creates a sort of turning point. Nanisca reveals a huge secret to Nawi. Nanisca was once pregnant and escaped her assaulters, causing her to leave her sisters behind. Throughout the whole film there has been tension between the two. Now it feels more transparent between the two characters. Nawi can now understand why Nanisca is strict and hard on her. The lighting in these scenes create a calming/eerie effect. The red-orange hue in the background is present, warm colors like red and orange can create a feeling of warmth and intimacy.

lighting

Note the way 3-point lighting works, first. The fill light removes shadows. The back light makes figures pop from the background.

  1. I like your ideas about the color of the scenes and how you identified the main points within the movie.
