Some time passes here, enough to allow Archie to leave
Luba’s house and drive away.
|
Lots of straight lines lines for the house. A curvy white line goes around Archie’s silhouette
to make him stand out.
|
In the first panel, Archie’s words are additive. The “Slam!” in big letters is an example of
montage.

Panel 3 is most likely taking place at the same time as
panel 2 or shortly after Archie leaves. Guadalupe is in her pajamas and
appears to have gotten out of bed when she heard her mom come in.
|
Archie and his car are drawn with smooth lines. The clouds above him are drawn with messy,
overlapping lines. It gives this panel
more of a troubled, uneasy feeling.
|
This is additive the picture shows the Guadalupe’s
nervousness in asking for her mom.

Only a few second pass here as Guadalupe enters her mom’s
room. Luba is still wearing her party
dress suggesting it hasn’t been long since she got home.
|
Slightly rougher making Guadalupe seem unsettled. The lines also blend into the dark
background.
|
On the rest of the page, the words and pictures are the
additive combination. I think given
either the words or pictures alone, the reader could understand what is going
on, but they work better together adding and complimenting each other.

Hardly any time passes here from Luba asking a question to
Guadalupe answering it and crawling onto the bed.
|
Smoother lines here: Guadalupe feels more at ease once she
sees her mom and Luba looks relieved to be home.
|
I the additive combination think this works well in the
last 4 panels because not much time is passing. This along with the moment-to-moment
transitions makes for a smooth, easy to follow ending to the story. This page
feels calm in contrast with the busy club scenes before.

Again only a few seconds pass here, just enough time for
Guadalupe to lie down beside Luba.
|
More dynamic lines drawn on Guadalupe’s pajamas shows
movement as she crawls onto the bed.

Gentle lines again give a sense of comfort.
