I liked the different analytical pieces of your review of the page. I think you should focus more on the lines of the pages, as they seem very frail in some parts while thicker and deeper in others. Also, maybe the whole blackness of the other characters in the fourth and fifth panels could be hinting towards something interesting? It seems like a tidal wave, in a way, with the others fighting it off while El and Mia make their escape. It could be symbolized as fighting against darker emotions, perhaps? After all, the two that stayed behind are lovers, so maybe it could be them fighting with their feelings towards each other or their reluctance to go back into this sort of line of work? While these ideas aren't super concrete, they could be worth following as you look further on in the pages you are working with.
ReplyDeleteIn panel four when you talk about the artists line significance you make a reasonable observation that the lines are jagged and wavy. I agree with this especially when regarding the artists use of dramatic camera angels which further enhances the readers perspective of the scene. In real life you can connect these types of line uses naturally to something more dramatic especially regarding color, color plays a major factor when trying create an effect and the way one perceived the combination of the two.. You also mention that the use of strategic line placement which makes a motion effect in the scene. Again, you further point this out when commenting on the use of jagged lines as another form of enchanting violence in the scene.
