This is a really good analysis! The mist that's scattered throughout the page, as well as the shifting mist are really good ways that Walden creates this sort of "memoryscape" that Mia is walking the viewer through. Even the background seems to be made of that mist. The nature of these panels makes them feel ever-changing, and maybe that's partially also because of how much Mia has changed since her time in school.
