So
with the IT movies theirs the first one from the 1990s than the remakes in 2017
and in 2019. The original got this movie idea from Stephens Kings book IT. I personally
don’t find clowns scarier at all I don’t feel anything for them but I guess to others they can be scary
even though the concept of clowns is supposed to be happy and funny not
scarier.

The genre for this movie is horror/ thriller so basically scary movies but in my
research this genre can be totally different from when the movies are brought
out. For example for IT (the 1990s) it was good but at the time clown movies weren’t
that much of a hit, in the 1990s it was all about slasher movies those were the
big hit, not clown movies. As for the IT chapter 1&2 (2017/2019), they were a big hit when they came out especially chapter 2, at the time when chapter 1 was
coming out we just got over the clown panic that was going on so of course this
movie scared people but also everyone wanted to see it plus it was remade from
the first so it was already popular, to begin with.

The
social history is both different since one came out when clowns weren’t a big
deal to when the newest one came out when clowns were a big deal and people
were really scared of them. Of course, after the 1990s IT came out more movies
then became about clowns and for TV shows as well. The 1990s clown defiantly gives
off the birthday clown that goes to parties for kids while for our 2017/2019 the version we get more of the scarier, creepy clown because it’s the 21st the century we want scarier versions.

I
bring these differences out because they came out in 2 different decades where
one had better technology of course and when it was a right time to have a
scary clown movie out. You can also see the difference for how they tell it as
well, they tell the same story but in different timelines.
I don't remember the original movie of IT but i have seen the remake and I would bring up that the remake brought in comedy aspects which the original might not have included. Another difference from both movies is the way the clowns looked, the newer version had a creepier look to him which I feel made the movie appear as if it would be scarier for the audience.
ReplyDeleteFor the social history aspect maybe bring in that time a few years back when we had people dressing up as clowns and chasing people in the US. How did that effect the movie if at all? Maybe there is some connection there, or maybe it had a role in the humor that was added to the remake because people are actually scared of them.
