Thesis for Children of the Corn, novel vs. movie

I think I will focus my thesis around the influences of the political and religious fears/views at the time, and how it impacts the movie adaptation from the novel, talking about the differences between the two that might have been caused by them, as well as talking about how the influences may have impacted the common "tropes" of the characters in the movie, (if there are any)

  1. I like what your focus is on and I think you can also discuss maybe when the movie came out like the time period of the movie coming out.

  2. I think your thesis is going in a good direction, but it needs to be more specific. What political/religious fears were relevant at the time? Which character tropes will you be focused on? How do they manifest in each version and how do they differ?

I'm also really interested when you say you want to talk about the "religious fears" that impacted the adaptation. We often talk about the political and social factors that influence the development of adaptations, but I think religion is an important and near universal aspect that would be fun to discuss.

  3. Kelsey covered what I would have to say, with the addition of exploring the specific sects of religion that were prominent at the times of releases. The dominant religious ideology will dictate religious fears and may seep into political issues as well.
